Cnc Y axis gets stuck

Hi all,

Hoping you can help me out. We built a Cbd plasma machine and so far so good. Because of the size of the machine being 1,5m x 2 m we are running 2 y axis motors. Everything is working fine but every now and then the y axis gets stuck and it destroys what ever part we are running. Also we cannot make near perfect circles. It is usually off by 0.5 to 1 mm off and they look like geoids and not circles.

Any suggestions on what we can try and trouble shoot?

We are running and arduino to run the machine.

Hi Robert,

Are you running belts? Make sure both y belts are equally tight. Verify the grub screws on the geared pulleys on the steppers are all tight and the geared wheel can’t slip. What stepper drivers, steppers and voltage are you running?
